Australian actor Jay Ryan is going to step into Ron Perlman’s claws for the CW’s update of the classic 1980s series Beauty and the Beast, starring opposite Kristin Kreuk.

Ryan spent three years on the Australian soap Neighbours, and appeared on the first season of Terra Nova as Tim Curran, adopting an American accent for the role.

Ryan’s Vincent Koslow is the survivor of a military experiment that went wrong who is being by Kreuk’s detective, Catherine. The pilot is due to start filming soon.
