Although it has been rumoured for some time that he would not be continuing on the hit BBC Three show, Russell Tovey has finally officially announced that he will be leaving Being Human.

“I’ve actually left Being Human but no one [outside the production] knows yet,” he told The Guardian, explaining that Aidan Turner’s exit at the end of the third series prompted his decision. “Aidan’s left to film The Hobbit in New Zealand and going on without him on this fourth series felt strange.”

The actor pointed out that he expected Being Human to continue, despite both his and Turner’s departure. “With Being Human the story can definitely go on and on,” he said. “Toby [Whithouse] still runs it and they can do all sorts … add giants and robots!”

Tovey confirmed the news on Twitter: “Hey my lovely witty’s, you may or may not know by now, but I am leaving Being Human officially. Thought you should all know… Im sorry.”
