It’s the Age of the Train for the 13th Doctor and Yaz in their next audio adventure.

The audio adventures of the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) will continue in September, in the sensational sci-fi story The Greatest Train Robbery.

In this brand-new Doctor Who audio episode by Karissa Hamilton-Bannis, the time travellers swap the TARDIS for public transport, as they board a train heading through the stars to the utopian Maelin system.

But delays on the line prove to be the least of this journey’s problems, as the train is hijacked by armed rebels and becomes a battleground. Maelin isn’t as peaceful as the Doctor thought, and the competing factions each have their own ideas for the future of the system.

Stuck in the middle, the Doctor and Yaz must end the conflict and find the true motives behind The Greatest Train Robbery…

The Doctor and Yaz are sent on mission of mercy – but who or what are they supposed to be rescuing?

On board a hijacked spacetrain, the stakes get higher as the fate of the Maelin system hangs in the balance. As the Rebel factions and Sentinel guards join battle, time is running out. Will the Doctor discover the secret of the Maelin Anomaly?

The guest cast of The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures: The Greatest Train Robbery includes Kerry Bennett, Satnam Bhogal, Debbie Korley, Dan Li, and Harriet Kershaw.

The story is scripted by Karissa Hamilton-Bannis, who’s previously written for TV series including Hollyoaks and here makes her Thirteenth Doctor Adventures debut. She said: “I was really excited to write for the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz, as I felt there was more to their story, and I’m so grateful for Big Finish that we have the opportunity to explore that partnership further.

“My episode had a lot of inspirations. Ursula le Guin’s short story The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas has haunted me since I read it, which in turn was inspired by ideas posited by Dostoyevsky on utilitarianism, and I really wanted to explore that. The Doctor tends to focus on the big picture, while Yaz is immediate and emotional, and focused on the individual.”

Doctor Who – The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures: The Greatest Train Robbery is now available to pre-order.
