A new Kickstarter is underway for Men of the Cloth, based on a story by regular SFB contributor over the years, Paul Kane.
Kane told SFB, ‘The original story for Men of the Cloth came to me when I was out teaching in the community and spotted lots of little scarecrows in people’s gardens out the wilds of the English countryside. They weren’t supposed to be, but I thought they were pretty creepy – so I ran with the idea of an isolated community where those things might come to life. I’ve always been a fan of Folk Horror, so it seemed like the perfect scenario.
‘The graphic novel adaptation came about after The Disease comic book did so well, brought out through Hellbound Media – and after Men of the Cloth had already been adapted into a movie, Sacrifice starring Re-Animator’s Barbara Crampton. It was a way of telling the original tale in another medium. I love writing comics, seeing what other creatives do with the words – and James Gray (Star Trek, Gerry Anderson’s SWORD) is one of the best around. It’s been a joy working with him, and Hellbound Media again, so I really hope people will get behind this one.’
