The Stargate controversy isn’t going away. So much so that Daniel Jackson himself just got involved.

Michael Shanks, whose played the world’s most frequently dead Egyptologist in all three core shows, has stepped into the fray.

Shanks, first off, backed up Mallozzi’s dispute of the reasons for the show being pre-emptively cancelled. Then he went further.

As spotted by IGN, Shanks has used his platform to signal boost multiple fan protests and petitions, including a GoFundMe to fly a #savestargate banner over Amazon Studios’ corporate HQ and a change.org petition that currently has over 42,000 signatures.  Shanks also walked right up to saying he was scheduled to make a guest appearance in the new show:

“I’m gonna simply say this: if you are at all interested in a Stargate show with ANY of the original creators/performers involved, now is the time to say something,” Shanks wrote. “Otherwise it really will be the end of that chapter forever. Let them know you are THERE.”

It makes perfect sense for Daniel to be one of the linking beats given both previous spin-offs did this.  It also makes perfect sense for him to be one of the people leading the charge against this startlingly ill-advised, cruel choice.

The petitions and GoFundMes are linked above. Go take a look and help out if you can. It’s what Daniel Jackson’s doing.
