We were already super excited about Ryan Coogler’s X-Files continuation before Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel were cast. Then we got even more exited and now? NOW?! We’ve got a supporting cast that’s even better, as Alasdair Stuart reports…
Fresh off Weapons, and presumably right before jumping into the Weapons side/pre/quel Amy Madigan has joined the pilot. She’s joined by Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs), Lochlyn Munro (Scary Movie), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon), Joel D. Montgrad (True Detective: Night Country), and Sofia Grace Clifton (The Muppets Mayhem). Alongside them are Ben Foster (Great in everything but in particular Hell or High Water) and Steve Buscemi.
STEVE.
BUSCEMI.
Any individual element of this cast is impressive but together? For a pilot?! This is an incredible cast. It also seems to confirm the rumours that the episode is going to explore Native American issues given the presence of talents like Clifton, Montgrand, Cardinal and Avery, the latter two of whom were excellent in Echo if you want a snapshot of their work.
Munro, Foster and Buscemi are fascinating choices too. Munro has had a nice line in amiable/terrifying meatheads for years and was great in the first season of Peacemaker. Foster is one of the most intense character actors working today and can bring humanity and depth to monstrous people very easily. Finally, Buscemi is an all-time hall of famer, a man as adept at comedy as he is at glacial evil.
This is an incredible cast both in front and behind the camera especially with the addition of Jennifer Yale from See as showrunner. We cannot WAIT for this one.
Steve Buscemi in The X-Files should be quite interesting.
