The Judoon, rhino-headed space police for hire, have established jurisdiction over the planet Hefestis, and the locals aren’t happy about it. When the time travellers arrive and are mistaken for detectives from the Shadow Proclamation, they quickly become wanted – and their pursuers aren’t known for taking prisoners peacefully.

And, in the volume’s third episode, an old friend tries to get involved in a key moment in the Doctor’s life – his death.

The guest cast of The Eleventh Doctor Adventures: Hidden in Plain Sight includes Louis Davison (known for TV shows Vikings: Valhalla and Poldark, and the son of Fifth Doctor actor Peter Davison), as well as Julie Teal (Luther), Alan Cox (Young Sherlock Holmes), and further names to be announced.

It’s a huge pleasure to see Miles Taylor and Jasmine Bayes return to these roles and further develop the relationship between the Doctor and Eleanor. It’s also very exciting to bring back the Judoon, and to revisit a key moment in the Eleventh Doctor’s life from a different perspective.”

Writer Ben Tedds added: “When I was asked to write for the Eleventh Doctor, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. Scripting a two-parter was on the condition it featured a returning villain – happily, my number one pick was approved!

“Tyranny of the Judoon explores themes of authority and its impact on the people of Hefestis . Then, Gambit of the Judoon sends the Doctor and Eleanor to the Shadow Proclamation for a deadly race against time. It’s a tricky story to discuss without spoiling…

“I will say though that, since Hefestis is Eleanor’s first proper alien world, I wanted to show how much she’s grown but also challenge her – she still has lots to learn. They were challenging scripts for the actors too – one scene even had a direct apology to Miles!”
