No not Rhodey in the MCU – but Reacher…

We may have our first big dumb Netflix movie of the year, suggests Alasdair Stuart. War Machine stars Reacher himself, Alan Ritchson, as a member of a Special Forces training group who realise the fight has just turned real when alien invaders arrive.

Ritchson is always fun and he’s joined by some really strong supporting players. Esai Morales, done dirty by the Mission: Impossible series but always good, is in there along with the Suicide Squad duology’s Jai Courtney, Keiynan Lonsdale from Love, Simon, and the excellent Stephan James and Jack Patten from If Beale Street Could Talk and Robin Hood respectively. Dennis Quaid also shows up as a general who is either going to know too much or get in the way. I’ve seen these movies before. I know how this stuff goes down.

No trailer for War Machine yet but it’s releasing on 6th March on Netflix so we should get one any minute now. It’s directed by Patrick Hughes, who did The Hitman’s Bodyguard (fun!) and The Expendables 3 (Also a movie!) and is co-written by Hughes and writer and actor James Beaufort (The Red Overdrive Ranger from Power Ranges Operation Overdrive among many other, also cool credits). And yes, Reacher season 4 has also wrapped filming and will be with us this year so we get two doses at least of Enormous Justice Man this year! Hurray!
