Mechanical effects expert Isidoro Raponi, whose work helped bring iconic creatures to life, has died aged 76.
Raponi was trained by and worked with Carlos Rambaldi, and assisted with design and creation of creatures for the De Laurentiis King Kong, Alien and ET. In his own right, he worked on Tron, Something Wicked This Way Comes – creating the iconic tarantulas, My Science Project and Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend, for which he created a plethora of different dinosaurs. Later work included The Running Man, The Green Mile, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, as well as various projects with Martin Scorsese.
