Henry Lincoln, who together with Mervyn Haisman created the Yeti and the character of Lethbridge-Stewart for Doctor Who, has died.

Also known as Henry Soskin, he was one of the three authors of The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, the book that posited the theory about Christ’s lineage that became popularised in the Dan Brown novel The Da Vinci Code. As an actor, he appeared in various ITC series in the 1960s and as a writer, he penned The Abominable Snowmen, The Web of Fear and The Dominators (which was broadcast as by Norman Ashby) with Haisman, as well as the 1968 movie Curse of the Crimson Altar.

He was the last surviving Doctor Who scriptwriter from the black and white era of the show.
