Welsh actor Windsor Davies has died aged 88.

Although predominantly known for his comedic roles, Davies played straight dramatic roles, including in the 1967 Doctor Who story The Evil of the Daleks, and the BBC version of Gormenghast, as well as providing the voice for the Gryphon in the 1985 BBC version of Alice in Wonderland, and Sergeant Major Zero in Gerry Anderson and Christopher Burr’s Terrahawks (he had previously worked for Anderson on an episode of UFO). His film work included Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed and The Willows in Winter.
