Former Guardians of the Galaxy supremo James Gunn is being lined up to take over DC’s Suicide Squad, according to reports in the trade press.

According to Deadline, Gunn will write the new film (which is being described as a new take, rather than a sequel) and possibly direct it. It will be his first gig since being let go by Disney.

The first Suicide Squad has already spawned a spin-off in Birds of Prey.
