Demimonde, JJ Abrams’ first new SF TV series since Fringe a decade ago, has got a series order from HBO.
Described as “an epic and intimate sci-fi fantasy drama,” sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that the drama is about a family — a mother who works as a scientist, her husband and their young daughter — who are all in a terrible car crash. After the mother winds up in a coma, her daughter begins digging through her experiments in the basement and is transported to another world amid a battle against a monstrous, oppressive force. Her father then follows her into this new world.
No episode count has yet been confirmed or anyone else on the production team beyond Abrams himself.
