While Michael Giacchino’s score for Rogue One incorporated themes previously composed by John Williams for the Star Wars saga, John Powell’s music for Solo: A Star Wars Story will feature a new piece especially composed by the veteran writer.

“The present plan is that I’m writing a theme for Han Solo, and John Powell is going to write the score, which he’ll do brilliantly,” Williams told Variety. “His assignment is something I’m very happy about. What I will do is offer this to John, and to [director] Ron Howard, and if all parties are happy with it, then I will be happy.” Powell will write all the other themes for the score for the film which is released on May 25 this year.
