Penny Dreadful’s Shazad Latif will be heading to the 23rd Century to join Star Trek Discovery.
Latif, who played Henry Jekyll on the Showtime series, will be Kol, the Klingon Commanding Officer, a protege of Chris Obi’s T’Kuvma, the Klingon leader seeking to unite the Klingon houses; and Mary Chieffo will portray L’Rell, the battle deck commander of the Klingon ship.
This may be an early indication of the background to the show’s first season. There is no confirmation yet whether the Klingon make-up will match the Klingons seen in the original series, or will be adopting the ridged forehead approach of later shows and movies. (The difference between the two was explained in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.)
