The first villain to oppose Batman in Ben Affleck’s solo movie was revealed to be Deathstroke by the star a few days back, but DC supremo Geoff Johns has now confirmed that he will be played by True Blood’s Joe Manganiello.
The casting was confirmed in an interview with Johns in the Wall Street Journal, in which Johns also noted that the Justice League movie will be more optimistic than some might expect. “Mistakenly in the past I think the studio has said, ‘Oh, DC films are gritty and dark and that’s what makes them different.’ That couldn’t be more wrong. It’s a hopeful and optimistic view of life. Even Batman has a glimmer of that in him. If he didn’t think he’d make tomorrow better, he’d stop,” Johns said.
Justice League will hit cinemas in November 2017; as yet there is no confirmed date for the Batman solo feature.
