Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

J. Michael Straczynski’s Rising Stars is finally heading for the big screen.

According to a report at Deadline, MGM has optioned the comicbook that the Babylon 5 creator devised and wrote between 1999 and 2005 for Top Cow’s Joe Comics imprint. It follows 113 Specials, who were all gifted with special powers while still in the womb. When one Special dies, their powers are passed to the others – and someone is killing them.

Stracyznski will pen the adaptation himself. The comics were previously novelised by Arthur Byron Cover. Atlas Entertainment and Studio JMS will produce the project.
