Special Agent Aloysius Pendergast, the FBI agent introduced in Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child’s first thriller Relic, is getting his own series on Spike.
Gale Ann Hurd is executive producing the show, which will be based around two of Preston/Child’s books, The Relic and The Cabinet of Curiosities. According to Spike, the show is “set in a contemporary version of gothic New York City… The first season finds Pendergast investigating a present day crime mimicking a century old mystery — which links to his own family’s dark past.”
John McLaughlin will script and produce the series, although Spike do not indicate how long the first season will run. Although The Relic was filmed in 1997, the character of Pendergast was not included in the adaptation.
