Interview bookAlthough they are going their separate ways for future film projects, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman will be working together on Universal’s reboot of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles.

Universal, Imagine Entertainment and Brian Grazer have acquired the rights to the series, including the forthcoming Prince Lestat, which marks Rice’s return to the character of Lestat de Lioncourt after some years. Kurtzman and Orci will produce the series which can draw on any of the books as well as Rice’s son Christopher’s screenplay for Tale of the Body Thief.

According to Anne Rice on Facebook, Christopher will be penning the screenplay for the movie, which she described as “a key reason all this is happening”. She was also keen to point out that although Tom Cruise (who starred in Interview with the Vampire) was not involved, he is “one very key reason why people the books and the series has life in Hollywood now”.
