1408's Greenberg and Piranha's Aja to dig up Pet Sematary?

Yet another Stephen King tale is apparently on the way to the big screen, with news that Paramount Pictures wants to revive the Pet Sematary franchise.

Matt Greenberg, who adapted King’s short story 1408 to great effect, and Piranha reboot Alexandre Aja are potentially being teamed up for the new version, according to Twitch. Aja is currently involved with the proposed new Scanners TV series, and is also attached to Cobra: The Space Pirate, which is set to go in front of the cameras in 2013 once funding has been sorted.

Pet Sematary was adapted for the screen in 1989 with Mary Lambert directing; she also helmed a sequel three years later. The original novel was one that King himself originally felt had gone too far, and had not planned to release. It has also formed the basis of an iPhone app, released at Halloween 2009.
