Prolific Doctor Who writer Paul Cornell has won the prestigious Terrance Dicks Award for Writers from the Doctor Who Appreciation Society.

Cornell received the award in front of a packed audience at the Holiday Inn Birmingham M6 Jct.7. The Executive of the Doctor Who Appreciation Society chose Paul in recognition of his body of work across more than 30 years, which has perfectly ticked every box recognising those whose writing across screen, audio, book and magazine have contributed to, and enhanced, the worlds of Doctor Who.

Society Co-Ordinator Tony Jordan said; “We’re delighted that Paul is this year’s recipient of the Terrance Dicks Award. His contribution to Doctor Who actually started with Fan-Aid nearly 40 years ago, I can’t imagine a more worthy winner.”

Cornell told SFB: ‘I’m hugely honoured to be given this award.  It’s a wonderful trophy and a wonderful sentiment.  I hope I would have made Terrance proud.’

The ceremony took place as part of the DWAS convention The Capitol Seven Wonders, taking place across the weekend of 27th and 28th April.
