Stephen King’s Eyes of the Dragon on screen at last

After many attempts over the years to bring it to the screen, Stephen King’s novel The Eyes of the Dragon is finally getting a live-action adaptation, courtesy of Syfy.

Michael Taylor and Jeff Vintar are writing the screenplay in which a kingdom is in turmoil as the old king dies and his successor must battle for the throne. Pitted against an evil wizard and a would-be rival, Prince Peter makes a daring escape and rallies the forces of good to fight for what is rightfully his. King wrote the tale for his daughter, but refused to “talk down” to her, so while there are certain elements that specifically appeal to younger readers, it is enjoyed by adults, and ties into both The Stand and the Dark Tower sequence.

Syfy are also working on Darkfall from The Jim Henson Company. Written by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris, it’s set in a Los Angeles where magic rules.
