Ned Beatty, best known to genre fans as Otis in the Christopher Reeve/Gene Hackman Superman movies, has died aged 83.
Nicknamed “the busiest actor in Hollywood”, Beatty came to fame with his performance in Deliverance. His other genre work in his over 160 screen appearances included Exorcist II: The Heretic, Faerie Tale Theatre, Highway to Heaven, Purple People Eater, the 1990 Captain America TV movie, Gulliver’s Travels, I Was a Rat, Toy Story 3 and Rango.
