  1. If they can remaster Dr Who from 1974 for a Blu Ray release. Why cant they do the same for Blakes 7, which aired in 1978 to 1981? I would really like a decent blu ray of Blakes 7. Of course, I will be buying the Tom Baker 1st season Blu Ray.

    • Judging by the number of comments on the recent thread about a anniversary dvd release of Blakes 7. I suspect that more than hundreds would buy a decent blu ray of Blakes 7.

      • And what sort of cost do you think it would be for 52 50 minute episodes, bearing in mind that this Baker set is 20 x 25 and people are moaning about the cost?

      • There are only 13 episodes per season of Blakes 7. They would release them a season at a time. There’s nothing new about that style of dvd/blu ray release. They are selling Doctor Who new season 10 for around the £25 mark. I have the original dvd box sets of Blakes 7, and I can tell you that they originally cost more than £25 each. I dont know why people would complain about the £40 cost of the Tom Baker Blu Ray release. It’s a lot cheaper than if you bought the individual stories separately. The market is out there for a decent copy of Blakes 7.

  2. Doctor Who season 10 doesn’t require the sort of major restoration work that Blake’s 7 would need to get it to Bluray quality. And we’ll have to agree to differ over whether the market is out there – I’m sure there are lots of people who’d like there to be a Bluray available. Whether that ever translated into actual sales is what I don’t believe would happen. BBC Worldwide is a commercial organisation – and on this one I’m pretty sure they’d have done their research before deciding simply to rerelease the DVD box sets.
