torchwood-14-thedollhouse_cover_mediumWhile UNIT is definitely an international organisation, Torchwood has always been a peculiarly British institution – at least until now.

April’s release from Big Finish, The Dollhouse, introduces us to the Los Angeles branch. “1970s Los Angeles – the city of angels and broken dreams. Three remarkable women keep the West Coast safe from alien attacks – they are Torchwood Los Angeles. So many young girls come to this city hoping for something better. For some, luck is just around the corner. For others that golden ticket never arrives and they just fade away. But it’s not that simple. Everyone has a value to someone, and Torchwood are about to discover Hollywood’s darkest secret.”

Laila Payne, Kelly-Anne Lyons, Ajjaz Awad, Stuart Milligan, Eve Webster and David Menkin star in Juno Dawson’s play, directed by Lisa Bowerman.

It’s the second story in the new season, which kicks off with David Llewellyn’s Visiting Hours which puts Rhys (Kai Owen) front and centre as he comes to visit his mother (Nerys Hughes) at St Helen’s Hospital and gets involved with strange goings on. May’s release is Corpse Day, by James Goss, featuring Tom Price’s Andy Davidson.

  1. This isn’t really canon it was always a purely British organization… I’d understand if it was after Miracle Day but the 70’s?
