The second episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ second season resolves one of the hanging plotthreads from the first year…

The episode is hampered by the obvious outcome – there’s no way that in the second episode of its new season we’d have the downer of a lead going to jail – and to its credit the focus is on the ‘how’ things get resolved.

  1. Starfleet’s overconfidence in its forced rules and regulations has made the rebelliousness of many Star Trek heroes quite sympathetic. In all honesty, the future seen in the Star Trek universe is not totally utopian and even the Prime Directive gets quite needlessly cruel on several occasions. The appeal in a role that Majel Barrett made possible in the original Star Trek pilot is what made me a fan of Una and I’m very impressed with Rebecca’s performance. So I’m pleased that she may now have her big fight against the blatant oppressions of Starfleet.
