In 1993, Lucasfilm commissioned four paintings of ships from the Star Wars saga. For various reasons, these never saw the light of day – and indeed only one was completed. Now the Millennium Falcon is coming up for auction next month, and we chatted with artist Brian Sauriol:

There were going to be things in The Empire Strikes Back with the Falcon that were different than in Star Wars and they wanted to make sure that the timing was right and that the ship had the right modifications.
