Mission: Impossible, Space: 1999, Ed Wood and X-Files star Martin Landau died on July 15, aged 89.

One of his first key roles was in Hitchcock’s North by Northwest and he appeared on stage and screen during the 1960s prior being cast by Bruce Geller in Mission: Impossible alongside his wife Barbara Bain. He also made regular guest starring appearances in series including The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, I Spy and The Man from UNCLE. In the mid-1970s he played Commander John Koenig in two seasons of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s Space: 1999.

In later life, he appeared in the first X-Files film, Fight the Future after winning an Oscar and many other awards for his role as Bela Lugosi in Tim Burton’s Ed Wood.
