Van Helsing, Syfy’s reworking of the Dracula mythos, is to get a second season.

“We have a wonderful and terrifying road ahead planned for Vanessa, her allies and her enemies,” Van Helsing writer/showrunner Neil LaBute explained “I think this is a world and a story that can be sustained for many years and I am inspired to do so thanks to Syfy’s obvious trust and commitment in the storytellers, cast and crew.”

The series stars Kelly Overton as Vanessa Van Helsing, the latest in the legendary line of vampire hunters, who battles the ancient foes after a volcano eruption allows them to take over America.  Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, David Cubitt, Vincent Gale, Rukiya Bernard, Trezzo Mahoro, Aleks Paunovic, Laura Mennell, Tim Guinee and Paul Johansson also star.

The show’s fifth episode airs on October 14 in the US; no UK broadcast has yet been confirmed.
