The BBC have not picked up a second season of The Living and the Dead, much to the upset of Colin Morgan fans.

Star Charlotte Spencer confirmed the report on Digital Spy. “We are very proud of The Living and the Dead and would like to thank Ashley Pharoah and the fantastic cast and crew,” a BBC spokesperson told the site. “However, in order to create room for new series and to keep increasing the range of drama on BBC One it won’t be returning.”

“No second series. I’m not sure why but yeah. I loved that job so much. Thank you all for everything xxx,” Spencer posted. Creator Pharoah tweeted, “So the BBC scythe has fallen #TheLivingAndTheDead Joy yesterday, disappointment today, pride tomorrow.”
