Jekyll 1Charlie Higson’s Jekyll & Hyde won’t be returning for a second season, the creator has announced.

“Sad day today as ITV announce they don’t want any more #JekyllandHyde Ah well, I tried. It was a grand adventure while it lasted,” Higson tweeted on January 5th, adding, “We had some great stories lined up for series 2. Thanks for all the messages of support… I’m moving onto other things.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, ratings had fallen to 1.8 million viewers by the end of the run, which was marked with controversy over its timeslot. One episode had to be postponed as a result of the Paris shootings.

The series was released on DVD on 28 December.
