Before taking the director’s chair, Cumming was an assistant floor manager on The Massacre and production assistant on two Troughton stories as well as The Mutants for Jon Pertwee. She returned in 1988 to make a brief cameo appearance as one of the tourists at “Windsor Castle” for the 25th anniversary show Silver Nemesis.
Away from Doctor Who, she directed episodes of the BBC soaps Angels and Eldorado, as well as genre shows Blake’s 7 (Sarcophagus and Rumour of Death) and The Omega Factor.
