Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the scripters of Dracula Untold, are behind this latest attempt to bring the series back, and will executive produce alongside Kevin Burns of Synthesis Entertainment, who owns the rights to the show through his Space Prods. Inc.
Synthesis has tried to reboot the show previously, with a TV movie at NBC which was scrapped after the death of Jonathan Harris, who played the snarky Dr Smith. A pilot written by Doug Petrie and directed by John Woo in 2003-4 was not picked up to series by the WB.
A movie, by Akiva Goldsman, was released in 1998 to less than warm critical acclaim.
