Hollywood’s resurgent love affair with the works of Stephen King is showing no signs of slowing down, with Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme optioning the rights to the author’s latest work,11/22/63, due out this November.

The book, which rivals King’s magnum opus The Stand in length, follows an English teacher who goes through a time portal and tries to stop the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas on the book’s titular date. At present, no studio has come on board, but King has agreed to executive produce the project if it proceeds.

Other Stephen King adaptations in progress include Warner Bros.’ version of The Stand, Paramount’s return to Pet Sematary, the new TV miniseries of Bag of Bones, and the ongoing Syfy series Haven, based on The Colorado Kid.
