Producer Steven Moffat has made it clear that plans for Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary in 2013 extend far beyond a single celebratory story. Speaking to TV Line, Moffat said that “I’ve got various plans, but all I can say emphatically is it will be huge.”

Explaining that at present “it’s only a set of notions,” Moffat suggested that there would be “lots of stuff… The plans are quite extensive, and changing all the time. Oh my God, we will hit that year very, very hard indeed.” The producer also emphasised that BBC executives are “fully committed” to his vision: “There’s lot of decisions we’re making that are about making all that possible. It’ll be amazing.”

Series six returns to US screens on August 27, and is expected to be aired in the UK the same day. The new trailer can be found here.
