As the world falls into chaos, Serac gains control of Delos, changing Charlotte’s plan. Maeve gets one last chance to stop Dolores and William starts his therapy.

After last week’s Dolores and Caleb-heavy episode we get the chance to catch up with Maeve and Charlotte, both performing espionage in their respective roles. Thandie Newton’s Maeve reawakens in Westworld, Serac offering to give her back what she wants if she can capture Dolores, thus taking her back to Warworld and a great escape.

Charlotte is still maintaining her subterfuge at Delos, but is finally uncovered by Serac and has to execute her escape plan involving a mega riot control robot. And then it’s pretty much non-stop as the players take their places on the board ready for the final assault. Charlotte in particular is compromised in an unexpected way that will drive her to the bitter end.

And if you thought you’d seen the last of Ed Harris’ William/ Man in Black after he was institutionalised, there’s a tasty sub-plot here as he meets his former selves, including Jimmi Mistry’s version, and finally puts to death these ghosts of his past. The question now remains as to how he will play a final role in the endgame, with society in turmoil.

Verdict: With the on-screen world spiralling out of control, it’s hard to see this as a cathartic alternative to our troubled real world. But it’s still great storytelling and continues to impress with the clarity and focus of its storytelling. 8/10
