On a typical night patrol, Minogue and O’Leary get to the bottom of a series of mysterious curses while Officer Parker gets a new partner.

Some episodes of Wellington Paranormal just click – and this is the strongest of Season 4. From the hilarious, ridiculous situations the officers find themselves in to the witty one-liners, it flies by in a flash.

It begins with Minogue and O’Leary questioning a pale dude who is carrying around a large rock, progresses to a headless driver who is behaving ‘erotically’ (actually, it’s erratically) to the actual devil playing the non-trademarked version of Guess Who called What the Hell.

There’s just so much invention here, and even Constable Parker gets a chance to shine as he accidentally orchestrated a major drugs bust and finds a hostage. Will his new partner last longer (i.e. more than a couple of hours) than his previous partners? I wouldn’t count on it.

Verdict: Police ineptitude on an epic scale, battling the forces of evil in New Zealand’s capital. The demons never had a chance. 9/10
