Minogue and O’Leary pull over a driverless 80s boy racer car only to discover it’s haunted by the original owner.
Wellington Paranormal taps into Christine and Duel as the cops investigate a haunted car. The owner hasn’t realised that he’s been dead for 30 years and is still driving round like a boy racer, unaware that the love of his life is growing older.
Ultimately, this is a sweet love story, with Minogue and O’Leary getting a positive outcome from their investigation. That’s not to say the dim Mulder and Scully have finally become good at their jobs – their patrol car is stolen at one point and O’Leary strips down to his underwear when confused by some partygoers as a male stripper.
Verdict: Not as hilarious as recent episodes, but still featuring some fun repartee and offering some rare emotional beats. 7/10
