A recent widower and his daughter find their new home sits on haunted land with deeply rooted horror spanning generations and three brothers return to their childhood home to visit their dying father only to be forced to confront the demons of their past.
For the concluding two episodes of the season, there are two thematically similar stories of legacy evil haunting the present. In Heirloom, widower Montrell Davis moves himself and his daughter into a new home after the death of his wife – a familiar horror movie set-up, especially when things start disappearing, noises are heard and a mysterious neighbour is only visible to some. It soon goes very Poltergeist meets The Guardian as the child disappears, kidnapped by the tree, and a lot is achieved in the half hour.
Homecoming witnesses Axel Hernandez returning to his family home to be with his dying father, Rodrigo. His father’s rage was externalised as demon El Coco, a malignant spirit that was ignored by his brother and his older brothers. By the end, there’s a victory for truth, and some bonding between the estranged family members.
Verdict: Two solid episodes closing out Two Sentence Horror Stories’ strongest season to date. 8/10
