A young Hispanic girl has to hang out at the morgue as her mother works, only to find herself the target of a terrifying ghost.

There’s a very clear point of reference in this funereal tale, but to name that source would spoil its ending, which while telegraphed, might still catch you out.

Isla Sunar is feisty eight-year-old Laura, who has an adversarial relationship with her mother, a busy morgue attendant who seems detached from her daughter’s needs. Laura spends some evenings on a spare bed at the mortuary, and is upset when a recently-deceased child is brought in. The poor kid died from asphyxiation while trapped in the back of a delivery truck, and his unsettled spirit is now chasing Laura.

By the time you work out what’s happening, some of the earlier sections that seemed a little off make much more sense, and overall it’s a satisfying twenty minutes.

Verdict: A familiar twist resolves a creepy ghost story, helped by a brave performance from a young lead. 7/10
