A young woman struggling to make ends meet starts work at a high-end nail salon, but the horrifying physical toll the job takes leads her to suspect something much more sinister may be at play.
Just one episode this week, but it’s a nice little shocker with some social commentary alongside its scares. Mina (Chiara Guzzo) is a hard-working technician, forever down on her luck and treated badly by her boss. Only the intervention of the salon owner prevents her from being sacked.
The workers are desperate to get the VIP gig, servicing the wealthiest customers and applying the most expensive lotions. But what’s in the magic elixir and just what are the side effects? Pustulous body horror ensues – don’t watch while eating your tea – with a very satisfactory ending.
Verdict: Well-paced, unpredictable, nasty and with something to say – the strongest instalment this season. 9/10
