The arrival of Morgan changes the lives of the survivors forever…
It isn’t just the lives of those he encounters that Lennie James’ Morgan affects – the arrival of James on the show is the catalyst for a reboot that by the end of the season sees Fear the Walking Dead become a rescue show. It’s a gradual process that we see developing across the 16 episodes and there are more than a few bumps along the way (and the loss of some key characters – but then it wouldn’t be The Walking Dead franchise without that).
The Blurays come with the expected package of extras – short behind the scenes featurettes on various aspects of production, as well as a focus on four of the principal cast (Colman Domingo, Garret Dillahunt, Maggie Grace, Jenna Elfman). With its time jumps and flashbacks, this is a pretty good time to jump on board the spin-off – certainly it’s carving its own niche in the Walking Dead universe, and the fifth season promises much.
Verdict: A year of change for the spin-off show given a decent package. 8/10
