Rose has an audience with Dream and the Corinthian seeks out Jed.

Chapter 7 did a lot of heavy lifting in introducing us to a bunch of new characters halfway through the season’s run, meaning that more time can be spent now in taking the characters forward. With a greater understanding of the nature of the threat that Rose’s powers present, we also get to see what’s happening to her younger brother, Jed. Trapped by abusive foster parents who are keeping him solely as a meal ticket, this one of those occasions where you question who the real monsters are.

There’s a lot going on, from Rose jumping between dreams to Lyta’s dream romance, Jed’s superhero fantasy and the Corinthian’s hands-on detective work. Dream takes a back seat during this arc, with the focus squarely on Rose, Kyo Ra giving a knockout performance.

Verdict: The second wave of The Sandman’s opening season shifts up another gear as the perils of the Doll’s House are revealed. 9/10
