The good news is Team Flash have perfected the meta cure and have an idea for how to subdue Cicada long enough to use it on him. The bad news is, literally, everything else.

There’s a massive amount to enjoy here, not the least of which is Ralph (who gets the biggest laugh of the episode by calling Barry ‘Bartholomew’)  and Barry becoming the worst criminals in the world. There’s also some really fun stuff in Goldface’s market and a surprising moment where Barry bluffs them into a situation by being convincingly evil sounding. Clearly he was taking some notes from Oliver back during Elseworlds.

But it’s the other plot this week where the most fun is to be had. In an effort to distract Sherloque from his investigation, Nora and Thawne set him up with Rene Adler. Yes, the name is deliberate. Played by Kimberly William-Paisley, Rene is charming, fun and… a meta. This is a plot with places to go and she and Cavanagh have lovely chemistry. I’m looking forward to where this goes next.

The one bum note here is the random fat gag about the returning Paul McGillion as Ralph’s overweight friend. It’s a chirp, lazy gag that does nothing but belittle a guest star and the rest of the episode rises far above it.

Verdict: That aside, this is another excellent episode. 8/10
