Preparing to dive into the memories of Cicada’s comatose daughter, Nora realises her parents will be able to see her memories. All of them…

The Flash is often at its best when dealing with either family or deeply weird science and we get both this week. The familial dimension is especially good this week, especially the genuine angst Nora feels at who she’s working with. The show has continually flirted with making Nora deeply unlikable but has never quite crossed the line, or run it as tightly, as they do here. Nora is a genuinely lovely, sweet natured person who wants desperately to be a hero. Whether Thawne is manipulating her or not remains to be seen. Whether she’s able to keep deceiving her parents isn’t in question.

The science fictional side of things this week is big fun, as Nora finds herself trapped in Cicada’s daughter’s memories and her parents are trapped in hers. There’s some great, subtle design here especially in the idealised approach to Cicada. What stays with you though is Barry’s sincere dorky joy at seeing his own museum and actual Flash merchandise. Plus the ending promises that this element of the show is far from done, and Nora has a price to pay for her actions.

Verdict: Smart, deeply weird and visually inventive, this is another good episode from one of the show’s strongest seasons to date. 9/10
