The Mandalorian visits an opulent world.

The latest chapter of The Mandalorian is a fun forty minutes in the Star Wars universe, but you can’t help feeling that things should have moved on a lot further by this point in the season.

With only two more episodes left, there’s (presumably) a lot to be achieved in a short period of time. This side quest looks good, features some big guest stars and isn’t without its charm, but apart from its final five minutes, it all feels inconsequential and surplus to requirements.

Bryce Dallas Howard directs showrunner Jon Favreau’s script with a good eye for detail and gets the best out of her guest cast. But there’s no escaping from the reality that plot easily could have been lifted from an episode of the animated Droids series. Let’s hope the final two parts deliver the goods.

Verdict: Fun, but mostly filler. Guest stars and legacy droids alone do not equate to essential TV. 6/10
