The people of Nevarro need protection from rampant pirate attacks.

Shiver me timbers, this here be a rollicking tale of high piracy, albeit in the skies rather than the seas. For me, it’s the most satisfying instalment so far this season.

In previous reviews, I’ve scratched my head at some of the unusual side missions and b-stories, and I’m glad to say that they are finally starting to pull together into a main narrative. The story itself – a settlement’s occupants are threatened by raiders, who call in a favour to save themselves – is clearly nothing new, but it’s delivered here with such gusto.

Kudos to Peter Ramsey, who on his first episode of this show takes Jon Favreau’s polished script and delivers on all the beats, from the attempts of X-Wing pilot Carson Teva to get support from the New Republic, to the exciting Mandalorian rescue manoeuvres.

Verdict: Things finally click into place, and multiple generations of Star Wars will surely be bouncing in their seats, making ‘pew pew’ noises, while waving around their finger guns. 9/10
