Mysteries are explored and Boba Fett learns new information.
I really hope that you get to watch this episode as unspoilered as possible, but I imagine it’s going to be difficult, with so much going on here that will tick multiple fan service boxes and a desire for many to share news on social media. But this is a safe space – beyond mentioning what’s already been established in previous episodes, I’ll let you find out things for yourself.
What I will acknowledge about this penultimate episode of the season is that the Pyke drug-running operation is stepping up, with the other crime syndicates taking a back seat as Boba Fett and his entourage try to restore order. We’ve spent the previous five weeks meeting characters who have now come to his side, hopefully setting up a spectacular season finale.
The biggest problem with this episode is its pacing – it really is all over the place(s) – and the lack of this show’s own identity. More than ever it feels like Mandalorian Season 2.5, with title character Boba Fett way back in the background. Dave Filoni directs a script co-written with Jon Favreau, and it’s easy to guess which bits he contributed.
Verdict: A selection box of Star Wars favourites, but is it fan service too far, and what were they thinking with some of the choices? 8/10
