Boba Fett remembers his first encounter with Fennec Shand.

The episodic Mandalorian spin-off continues with a stronger instalment than Chapter 3, giving the fans some of the promised back story they craved while also setting up the crime story that’s been building up in the background.

There’s a point this week where Boba Fett is told that his bacta tank healing is complete, which signposts to the viewers that we won’t be getting any more of the flashbacks. That feels right, because in the opening two thirds of this chapter we cover off Fett’s first meeting with Shand (and the debt she repays), the recovery of his ship that was previously called Slave 1 in less enlightened times, and the very brief retribution against the gang that killed his adopted Tusken family.

Now that we’re up to speed, Boba Fett approaches the other crime families in a bid to rid the territories of the Pyke Syndicate, who are working with the Hutts. Even if they don’t join the former bounty hunter, will they at least turn a blind eye or not stand in his way?

Verdict: After last week’s over-reliance on the Mods bike gang (which didn’t feel like it sat in this universe), things feel like they’re back on course again, and who doesn’t love a rampant Wookiee?  7/10
