On a distant island, unsettling questions about destiny and identity arise.
Whereas last week’s episode was all about the action, this week the focus is on character, even though there are moments where supposedly super-intelligent people just act dumb.
At the end of Episode 5, Mae gambled that she could dupe Jedi Master Sol into thinking she’s Osha by slicing off her fringe with a lightsaber. And it works for a while, though rodent Bazil the Tynnan tracker is very suspicious. Equally hard to believe is Jedi master Vernestra Rwoh’s acceptance of the possibility that Sol could have murdered his team. What, really? Do you actually know the guy?
The most interesting moments are between Osha and Qimir on Unknown Planet (that’s genuinely the on-screen title) where the former questions the Jedi killer about his motivations. The fact that he’s not an outright monster in his interactions, and isn’t sulky like Kylo Ren, makes for an interesting character.
Verdict: With two episodes left, I hope we can ditch the switcheroo Parent Trap shenanigans and instead focus on a satisfying conclusion. 6/10
